ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Bob Ventimiglia is an award winning, unparalleled expert in state-of-the-art Software Configuration Management (SCM.  He is currently the JSF/F-35 Autonomic Logistics Software Configuration Manager for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics where he is leading developmental configuration management implementations for the Autonomic Logistics Division of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. Prior to re-joining Lockheed Martin, Bob taught Software Configuration Management, Software Project Management, and Software Quality Assurance short courses for the Continuing Education Department at Southern Polytechnic University, Marietta, GA. At the same time Bob was Director, SCM/IAM and Key Accounts Consulting Manager for MERANT, Inc, a leading supplier of enterprise change management solutions to all areas of the software development and IT industry. Prior to joining MERANT, Inc. Bob was the Atlanta Area Consulting Manager for Pretzel Logic, a leading change management solutions consultancy, where he managed B2B and other Change Management solution implementations. Bob also taught  Bob  was also the Manager, Environment, Tools and Software Configuration Management for Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems, Marietta, GA. where he lead advanced Effective SCM implementations for LMAS Software Intensive Systems such as the Hercules C130J, Spartan C27J, and C5 AMP programs.  These programs involved concurrent parallel development and flight test of more than 8 versions of eight Software Configuration Items, supported by a minimally sized SCM team.  Bob also held the positions of F-22 Environmental Control and Brake System Software Manager, where he managed development and implementation of four Software Configuration Items.  He was also the Lead F-22 SCM Engineer, where he served as Chairperson for the F-22 SCM/PCMS Working Group which defined, developed, and implemented the F-22 SCM process and procedures, and the application of the product/process and configuration management system (PCMS - now called PVCS Dimensions).

The C130J, C27J, C5 AMP, and F-22 programs have implemented one of the most advanced SCM systems in the world today. Using Effective SCM, a non-traditional software/application lifecycle management approach to SCM, the SCM system focuses on providing an electronic repository that completely captures the development process and all of its work products. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Bob held key software management and engineering positions at GE Aerospace Information Technology (AIT), GE Corporate Engineering and Manufacturing, Sanders Associates and Hamilton Standard Division of United Technologies.

An award winning, outstanding lecturer, Bob has presented enthusiastically received seminars in the U.S. and Europe.  In March 2001, Computerworld honored him as one of their Premier 100 IT Leaders, http://www.computerworld.com/premier100/0,3384,NAV47_STO58901,00.html#Ventimiglia.  His presentation “Effective SCM – A C130J Software Success Story” was voted #1 customer presentation at the January 1999 Merant Customer Advisory Board Meeting, and his presentation “Challenges and Trends in SCM Automation” was voted best presentation at the Third Annual TMSA Automated Configuration Management Conference and exhibition.  Bob's article, “Effective Software Configuration Management”, published in Feb. 1998 had one of the top ten web accesses of the CrossTalk Journal web site
